SPEAKER_07: Hey everyone, I'm Grace Lynch, one of the producers and writers behind Encyclopedia Wamanica. In light of our Politicians Month, I'm here to tell you about the new political show I created with Wonder Media Network, Winning Wisconsin. Winning Wisconsin tells the story of the state that gave Donald Trump his decisive electoral win in 2016 and how four years later, it might decide the future of our country once again. Stay tuned to hear the trailer and if you like what you hear, you can find Winning Wisconsin wherever you listen to podcasts. Enjoy. I think about elections as a game of tug of war. Each end of the rope is anchored by the most reliably red or blue states. So on the Republican end of the rope, you want your most staunchly conservative states like Nebraska and Wyoming as the anchor. The Democratic end of the rope is held by liberal strongholds like California and Vermont. Indecisive swing states are up in the front, feeling the pull from both sides. Inevitably, some state does fall over the center line and calls the election. In 2016, that state was Wisconsin.
SPEAKER_06: Hold on, Fox News is projecting that Donald Trump has won the state of Wisconsin. Wisconsin has been called for Donald Trump.
SPEAKER_03: That takes him north of the 270 that is required
SPEAKER_10: in terms of the electoral college. What happened in Wisconsin? This was a state Hillary Clinton was supposed to win. It was supposed to go blue according to all the polls.
SPEAKER_06: Wisconsin, Wisconsin was barely in play.
SPEAKER_07: In the run up to 2016, Wisconsin was not in the narrative. It was considered so reliably blue that Hillary Clinton didn't even visit the state and Donald Trump was mocked for campaigning there. No one was really looking at Wisconsin, but maybe they should have been Because it turns out, Wisconsin is a microcosm of political tensions in America. So with election day approaching, why not take a real close look at this fiercely divided state that may once again decide our nation's future?
SPEAKER_10: Either we win Wisconsin and we win the election or we lose Wisconsin and we lose the election. It is the state balanced on the knife's edge that could tip either way and bring the entire White House with it.
SPEAKER_07: From Wonder Media Network, I'm Grace Lynch and this is Winning Wisconsin, the story of one state fighting for its own political identity with national implications.
SPEAKER_00: It is not going to be the site of the second civil war. Sorry, Donald Trump. My husband and his family have been here farming for over 100 years. It really can all come down to black voters in the city of Milwaukee.
SPEAKER_01: Does any politician ever keep any of their commitment?
SPEAKER_07: The dilemma of Wisconsin is which Wisconsin are we? Winning Wisconsin begins Tuesday, September 29th. Listen wherever you get your podcasts.
